10-year plans

10 years from now, I’d like to be somewhere like this, assessing whether or not my guiding principles paid off.
  1. I want to still be married to Amber, so I need to make sure I treat her well and ask myself each day “What can I do to make her life better today?” The answer to that question will be different 1,000 mornings from now than it was this morning.
  2. I want my kids to love me and enjoy my company, so I need to prioritize spending quality time with them and doing things they enjoy.
  3. I want to be doing fulfilling work that allows me to help others, so I need to keep improving professionally and looking for great opportunities.
  4. I want to help others personally, not just at work, so I need to continue to prioritize saving money and setting aside time specifically to use for the good of others.
  5. I want to be in shape and able to do things I enjoy like hiking, dancing at weddings, running around with the kids, and playing basically any sport. So I need to (I would argue in order of importance) sleep well, eat well, stretch, and exercise.
  6. I’ll probably still have neighbors, so I need to work on being friendlier.
  7. I want to be a spiritual leader for my kids, so I need to strive to be more like Jesus.
